We are also within walking distance of the Old Quipolly Dam which is known worldwide for its many and varied bird species such as the Diamond Firetail and Black-chinned Honeyeater. A Bird Hide has been built on the edge of the dam which overlooks this pristine flora and fauna sanctuary and enables bird enthusiasts to view the birdlife from a secluded position.

In 2011 the Quipolly Dam (local water supply) will be open for recreational activities which will include fishing, non-powered boating, barbecues and more, it will provide the ideal setting for families and friends to get together at a fully facilitated location. The Quipolly Dam is only 4klms from Whispering Pines Bush Retreat.
