Whispering Pines is situated approximately 1 kilometer from the Old Quipolly Dam, 14 kilometers east of Quirindi. This dam has been almost completely filled with silt, providing an ideal habitat for many waterbirds such as Cormorants, Swans, Great Crested Grebes and breeding Blue-billed Ducks and Crakes. Pelicans and White-bellied Sea Eagles also visit the dam from time to time.
The Quipolly area is rich in bird-life, species including Diamond Doves, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, Galahs, Rosellas, Kookaburras, Treecreepers, Honeyeaters, Willie Wagtails, King Parrots, Fairy-wrens and Finches just to name a few. Bird enthusiasts won’t be disappointed.
